The work of the Department Environmental Education and Interpretation of the Polistovsky Reserve is aimed at promoting ecological and environmental knowledge.

The main activities of the Department of Environmental Education and Interpretation:

Interaction with educational and cultural institutions

In the current age of information technology environmental education is becoming increasingly important among the younger generation, which is gradually moving away from nature. Therefore, one of the priorities of the Polistovsky Reserve is to work with educational and cultural institutions, teachers, children of school and preschool age, and students.

The children enjoy taking part in environmental events and activities of the Polistovsky Reserve - they sculpt, draw, build birdhouses, organize their own small actions. At the same time they learn more and more about the world around them and the need to protect it. Often adults are also involved in the actions - leaders and teachers who organize their young charges.

Interaction with the locals

One of the principles of ecological tourism is to create conditions under which the neighborhood with protected areas and nature conservation becomes interesting to the local community. Therefore, an important area of work of the environmental education department is to maintain cooperative relations with the locals of the villages adjacent to the territory of the Polistovsky Reserve. At the moment, some of them have developed their own author's tourist routes which are invariably popular among tourists. You can familiarize yourself with them in the section "Author's tours".

Public events

The Department of Environmental Education and Interpretation organizes photo exhibitions, both permanent - in the nature room of the Bezhanitsky Historical and Cultural Center named after Filosofov, and mobile - in Pskov, Velikiye Luki, Veliky Novgorod and other cities and towns.

The staff of the Polistovsky Reserve take part in public events in the Pskov region, annually holding the wildlife festival "DroseraFEST", including in the online format.

Polygraphy and Media

The Department of Ecological Education and Interpretation regularly develops and publishes polygraphy products: information booklets telling about the Polistovsky Reserve, its tourist offerings and the rich flora and fauna of the Reserve, as well as the Reserve's own newspaper "Polistovskaya pravda", distributed primarily in the villages adjacent to the Reserve, as well as to cultural institutions, libraries and information centers.

Special attention is paid to ecological education of the general public, starting with the residents of the Pskov region and ending with the entire Internet community. We strive to make sure that as many people as possible learn about the Polistovsky Reserve, its unique bogs and nature conservation in general.

The reserve interacts with the media, primarily the regional media, as well as with representatives of the blogosphere. We publish articles, notes and announcements in newsfeeds, and the most important ones in the print media of the Pskov region. Employees speak on the radio, and sometimes you can see stories about the Polistovsky Reserve on television. Press tours are periodically organized for journalists, during which they get acquainted with the nature reserve and the work of the organization. However, we are happy to see guests at any time, so it is not necessary to wait for the press tour to come.

The main source of information about us is this site, here you can find an answer to almost any question about the Polistovsky Reserve or contact our staff, visit a virtual tour of our routes or visitor center, and read our news about upcoming and past events and about the life of the Reserve.
