Meeting in Tsevlo village: handmade gingerbread, a new eco-trail and immersion into history
On the 14th of December, active residents of the village of Gogolevo visited Tsevlo with a return visit. During the meeting, employees of Polistovsky Reserve and residents of the nearby villages discussed prospects for cooperation and joint activities.
At the meeting, 20 people gathered at the scientific and technical base of Polistovsky Reserve. Tsevlo and Gogolevo residents organized a tea party with homemade baking. At the same time, the presentation of Polistovsky Reserve, devoted to the development of ecological and agro tourism, was held. Elena Perova, deputy director for environmental education and tourism, told the participants about the plans for the next year and invited everyone to cooperate.
Together with the residents of Tsevlo and Gogolevo, it is planned to hold village festivities; informative classes will be held for schoolchildren during winter holidays; and the collection of historical materials about the nearby territory for the newspaper "Polistovskaya Truth" continues. On Lake Tsevlo, near the pier, the staff of the Reserve propose to create a decking path for free visits and provide it with information stands about the history and nature of the bogside area.
During the discussions, several ideas on creating local souvenirs emerged. Home-made gingerbread and decorations made of natural materials, as well as aromatic sachets with Polistovsky herbs, may soon appear in Tsevlo. In Gogolevo it's planned to make knitted mittens and socks, and possibly traditional patchwork bedspreads. There was also an idea to hold master classes in traditional crafts by craftswomen from both villages for each other.
At the end of the event, everyone who wish visited the local history museum and the restored classrom of 80s at Tzevelo school. The objects of a village life, attributes of a Soviet epoch and school accessories from a last century collected here allowed visitors to make small journey to the past.
