About Polistovsky Reserve Friends Club

Polistovsky Reserve gathers Friends!

Friendship helps us to do real wonders.
Film "Cinderella" , 1947

How to spend the summer holidays not only fun and interesting, but also to gain useful knowledge and vivid experience, ang make new friends?

In 2015 Polistovsky Reserve launched a project "Friends Club", and we invite schoolchildren at the age of 12-16 years to take part in our events, which will take place from June to December 2015 and further.

The idea emerged thanks to the environmental movement "Friends of Protected Islands," coordinated by the EcoCenter "Zapovedniks" (Moscow) since 2000. This movement brings together people in different parts of our country, who are not indifferent to the conservation of the native nature and are ready to provide all possible assistance to the protected areas (PAs). Various events and environmental actions are supported by the Friends Club members! Help, which they can provide nature, can be very different - planting trees, making bird feeders and birdhouses, orginizinf photo-exhibitions for nature lovers and even making environmental performance for children and adults. It does not matter in what form careful and grateful attitude towards nature will be expressed, these feelings pass from heart to heart, from friend to friend - that is the main purpose of the Club of "Friends of Protected Islands"!

What is "Polistovsky Reserve Friends Club"?

Firstly, the "Friends Club" - it is informative excursions into the wild, organized by Polistovsky Reserve. As part of the project from June to December, children can take part in an exciting journey through the ecological route "Plavnitskoe bog" for free. This path is a business card of the Reserve, and visiting it you can find out how does unique nature of the Reserve look.

In order to acquaint schoolchildren with traditional culture and crafts of our region, Tsevlo village residents conduct guided tours and exciting workshops within the the project. Knowledge of the history of their native village, its cultural traditions, transmitted through the direct holders of this knowledge - the , can have an impact on the interests of the children, help them with the choice of future profession, and make them feel love for the native land and develope patriotic feelings!
