Polistovsky Reserve will take part in the development of environmental education in Pskov region
On the 18th of December Polistovsky Reserve presented its experience in the field of environmental education and interpretation at the Round Table "Protected Areas opportunities to improve the quality of environmental education" in Pskov. The round table was the first event of the project "Your land", implemented by NGO “Lake Peipsi Project, Pskov” with the support of Russian President Grant.
At the event, representatives of educational and environmental institutions, authorities, NGOs and protected areas discussed challenges and opportunities for environmental education and prospects for cooperation. The participants expressed the need of more in-depth acquaintance of the younger generation with nature of their region within the framework of school education and made their proposals for creating mechanisms for effective interaction between Protected areas and educational institutions in Pskov region.
Polistovsky Reserve is one of the partners of the project "Your Land" and plans a number of joint activities with NGO “Lake Peipsi Project, Pskov”. From the beginning of 2018, a series of lessons will be held in the schools of Pskov region dedicated to Polistovsky Reserve and other PAs of Pskov region, nature conservation and PAs professions; and in summer, a meeting of schoolchildren participating in "Your Land" project is planned on the basis of Polistovsky Reserve.
At the same day with the Round Table on Environmental Educationon on the 18th of December “Lake Peipsi Project, Pskov” also held a round table "Perspectives and problems of separate collection of domestic waste and its recycling in Pskov region"; and the XI Chudskoy Forum with a traditional international conference dedicated to the results and prospects of cooperation between border areas in the field of environmental protection.
In addition, in the framework of the Chudskoy Forum, the winners of the environmental contest "Your land" were awarded. The winners received diplomas, certificates for visiting the excursion to Polistovsky Reserve and gifts from the organizers. Bezhanitskaya secondary school, ranked III in the nomination "Eco-initiative", and the student of the same school Ilya Borovtsov, who took the first place in the nomination "Green Lens" - are among the winners.
XI Peipsi Forum was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the NGO "Lake Peipsi Project", taking care and preserving natural heritage of the Lake Peips region for the past two decades. Polistovsky Reserve congratulates colleagues, wishes new projects and achievements, and hopes for further cooperation.
