September 30 in Tsevlo was a traditional Harvest Festival. Locals took an active part in the preparation.
Within the framework of the celebration, there were an exhibition of vegetables and fruits, flower compositions and ikebana, children's handicrafts and homemade pickles. Specialists of Polistovsky Reserve organized an ecological and educational site for the visitors.
The young villagers got acquainted in an interactive form with how the inhabitants of the reserve prepare for the winter, and also learned how to make funny owls of cones. The guests appreciated a photoexhibition of the reserved Polistovye. So familiar to the villagers local landscapes revealed their inner charm on the photos of talented artists and made ones rediscover the beauty of their native land.
On the site of the club "Soul" (Bezhanitsy district culture center) Vera B. Maksimova introduced the participants to the traditions of the creation of festive puppets "Krupyanichka" and "Master". Such a pair of dolls were made by the mistress of the house every autumn in honor of the harvested crop. In the days of the autumnal equinox, when the day becomes equal to the night, in every village of Russia people honored the sun, said goodbye to summer heat, met the golden but cold autumn and celebrated the most generous folk festival “Oseniny”.
Valentina and Mikhail Potemkin continued the tradition of hospitality at the village festivals. They held a culinary master class and introduced the participants to modern technologies, thanks to which it is possible to prepare products, preserving all the most useful properties in them.
Also at the event was a tasting of natural apple juice and delicious honey collected during the flowering of marsh grass, most of which have medicinal properties.
Good mood and a joyful atmosphere were created at the сelebration by the performance of children ensemble "Lozhkary" (school of Bezhanitsy), as well as the musical and poetic performances of young locals. The head of the ensemble Olga E. Eliseyeva also held a master class on creating flowers from autumn leaves, in which not only children but also adults took part. Elena Ivanova, a pupil of the Velikiye Luki Pedagogical Lyceum, performed cheerful ditties accompanied by a dombra.
The Harvest Festival was the second event in the framework of the project "The village is rich with kindness", which revives traditional village holidays. We thank all the participants for their help in organizing and preserving the good traditions of the village.
