Two photo exhibitions of Polistovsky Reserve opened in Pskov in honor of the Day of National Nature Reserves and National Parks
Today, on the 11th of January, the protected areas system of Russia celebrates its 102nd birthday. In honor of this holiday, Polistovsky Reserve opened two photo exhibitions in Pskov: the new exposition “The world of raised bogs” is located in Pskov State University, another exhibition opened at "Aquapolis" mall.
New photo exhibition “The world of raised bogs” is located on the first floor of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, medical and psychological education of Pskov State University. The exhibition introduces viewers to the most interesting features of the bogs - amazing ecosystems, beautiful and performing important environmental functions. Part of the photos was taken by volunteers-photographers who visited Polistovsky Reserve in 2018.
The exhibition at "Aquapolis" is showing landscapes and inhabitants of Polistovsky, as well as telling about the work of the Reserve on studying and preserving nature. Among the authors of the pphotoes are both professional photographers and employees of the Reserve. Photo exhibitions will stay in Pskov until the beginning of February.
We remind you that on the 11th of January, the Day of National Nature Reserves and National Parks is celebrated in Russia. Since then, the network of protected areas has expanded, and now in Russia there are 110 Reserves and 56 National Parks, 60 Refuges (Sanctuaries), 17 Nature Monuments, as well as about 12 thousand protected areas of other categories.
There are three protected natural areas of federal significance in Pskov Region: Sebezhsky National Park, Polistovsky Reserve, and Remdovsky Refuge.
