A children's conference in honor of the World Wetlands Day is held annually. The organizers are Polistovsky and Rdeysky National Nature Reserves, which protect a part of Europe’s largest raised bog system - Polistovo-Lovatskaya.
The conference is an exchange of experience in teaching and research, environmental education and environmental management for students; the participants also get acquainted with their native nature.
World Wetlands Day is celebrated on the 2nd of February. On this day in 1971, the “Convention on Wetlands” was signed in the Iranian city of Ramsar to protect wetlands of international importance (mainly as habitats of waterfowl).
