Law-enforcement news: massive cranberry collecting is prevented in the Reserve
Six violators who had illegaly entered Polistovsky Reserve to collect cranberries were detained by the law-enforcement team on the 9th of October in the area of Lugi. The protocols on an administrative offenses under Article 8.39 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation were drawn up.
State inspectors are constantly patrolling the protected area. So, in the area of Lugi they found traces, hidden mechanical cranberry harvesters, as well as a place where violators leave the car. Photo traps installed on possible routes of entry into the Reserve also helped in the detention.
A group of six offenders went to the protected area deliberately, hoping to collect more cranberries here than at designated sites where the responsible nature users gather berries. The law-nforcement raid was carefully planned, which made it possible to stop the violators before they managed to cause significant damage. Inspectors seized 3 kg of cranberries and a machine for picking berries (combine) from violators.
The administration of Polistovsky Reserve reminds: visiting the territory without a permit and picking berries, like any other natureuse, entail administrative liability and a fine of 3 to 4 thousand rubles. Security activities continue: state inspectors regularly conduct raids, track all roads and trails leading to the Reserve, use photo and video traps.
