Open Day at Polistovsky Reserve
Yesterday, more than 20 teachers of natural sciences from Pskov region and Belarus visited the Open Day at Polistovsky Reserve. The event was held within the framework of the eco-educational project "Your land", implemented by the cross-border cooperation centre "Lake Peipsi project".
The guests of Polistovsky Reserve visited an excursion along the route "Plavnitskoye bog", and then got acquainted with the eco-educational and interpretational work of the Reserve, and discussed possibilities of cooperation: using materials of the Reserve in the framework of school activities, participating in environmental actions and competitions, visiting educational excursions with students.
Polistovsky Reserve employees invited all the participants of the Open Day to the seminar "Environmental Education and Cooperation of Educational Institutions with Protected Areas", which will be held on October, 19-21, on the basis of the Reserve in the village of Gogolevo. There it will be possible to get complete information on the activities of protected natural areas, as well as the materials of the lesson cycle "Nature Reserves of Russia and Protected Areas of Pskov Region", developed within the framework of the project "Your Land".
The day before, teachers visited the Open Day in Sebezhsky National Park. The guests visited an excursion along the "Bolshoy Grebel" trail, then the presentation of the results of the project "Your land" was held: a series of lessons for educational institutions "Nature Reserves of Russia and PAs of the Pskov region", a website "Virtual natural guide of the Pskov region" on specially protected natural areas, and an electronic brochure "Environmental education in Pskov region. Methodical developments. "
According to the teachers, especially bright impressions were made by the excursion to the raised bog, some tried themselves in the role of eco-tourists and visited protected natural areas for the first time. Also, the guests of the event noted that the project "Your land" provided them with new, very interesting knowledge and opportunities that they will definitely use. There was a proposal to continue the project and develop a textbook on the ecology of Pskov region, telling about nature conservation and protected areas.
The project "Your Land" is being implemented by the "Lake Peipsi Project" with the use of a grant of the President of the Russian Federation for development of civil society, in partnership with the Pskov Regional Center for Development of Talented Children and Youth, Polistovsky Reserve and Sebezhsky National Park with the support of the State Educational Board of Pskov Region.
