Marsh for Parks in Loknya settlement
On the 22nd of May the action "March for Parks" organized by Polistovsky Reserve was held in Loknya settlement. As a part of the action, Loknya residents planted trees on the Octyabrskaya street; and then a cognitive ecological site introducing students to the Reserve took place on the territory of Loknyansky school.
The event began with a grand opening at the square near Loknya Cultural Center. The meeting was greeted by representatives of the Administration of Loknyansky District and staff of Polistovsky Reserve. They told schoolchildren and adults about the annual international action "March for Parks" aimed at informing the public about protected natural areas and providing support for them.
Participants of the Marsh for Parks planted seedlings in the alley on the Octyabskaya street. Pupils of Loknyansky school promised to take care and protect young trees during school practice and in the future just as the employees of the protected areas of Russia take care of the wild nature.
On the same day a cognitive eco-site of Polistovsky Reserve was held on the territory of Loknyansky school, it was attended by middle-class students. The children got acquainted with the nature of the raised bogs and inhabitants of the Reserve, checked their knowledge during the quiz "Keepers", solved a puzzle-sundew and took part in the master class "Butterflies of Polistovsky Reserve".
March for Parks is an international large-scale environmental action, which is held annually unite all concerned people around the idea of supporting protected natural areas (Reserves, National Parks, Sanctuaries and Natural Monuments). The March for Parks allows each person to discover the Reserve as an unique part of the national natural heritage of his country and to make his personal contribution to their preservation and development through concrete actions.
