"Reserves' week" in Bezhanitsky school
From the 14th to the 20th of May "Reserves' week" was held in Bezhanitsky school, during the week teachers and pupils learned more about Polistovsky reserve. The week ended with an open ecological site on the 20th of May, where volunteers from among schoolchildren told residents and guests of Bezhanitsy about Polistovsky Reserve in a game form.
The "Reserves' week" was held within the framework of the "March for Parks" and on the eve of the birthday of Polistovsky Reserve (May, 25). The first to get acquainted with the Polistovsky Reserve were the teachers of Bezhanitsky school. They visited the excursion to "Plavnitskoye bog" ecotrail, learned a lot of interesting things about the Russian protected areas system, and then shared this information with their students.
Short info blocks dedicated to nature conservation were included into the school lessons and presented at the lessons of geography, biology, Russian and English, drawing and others. Teachers told schoolchildren about nature conservation, Polistovsky Reserve, the features of the raised bogs and their inhabitants. Booklets, presentations, photos and videos from Polistovsky Reserve were used as additional materials.
At the solemn meeting, held in Bezhanitsky school at the beginning of the "Reserves' week" on the 14th of May, the staff of the Reserve invited children to become volunteers and take part in the environmental site of Polistovsky Reserve, which took place on the 20th of May near the new concert hall.
Eight volunteers from among the students responded to the invitation and conducted games and master classes for all comers. They acquainted guests of the eco-site with Polistovsky Reserve and its inhabitants: сonducted a bog-quiz "Keepers"; master class on painting of gypsum butterflies; cognitive games - "Amazing animals", "Memory", "Gather a word", "Whose food?"; and also invited the participants to solve an outdoor puzzle depicting sundews - one of the symbols of the Reserve. Children and adults took an active part in the event, winners at each station received Polistovsky souvenirs.
The administration of Polistovsky Reserve thanks the employees of Bezhanitsky school for the assistance in holding the "Reserves' Week" and looks forward to further cooperation.
