Polistovsky National Nature Reserve is the Federal State Institution which is administered by the Department of State Policy and Regulation of environmental protection. This Department is a part of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation.
The Polistovsky Reserve was established on the 25th of May, 1994 by the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation № 527. The Institution operates on the basis of the Statute applicable to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation, Order № 463, dated 25/05/2011. According to this document the Federal State Institution National Nature Reserve "Polistovsky" is an environmental, conservational, scientific research and environmental education Institution. Its purpose is to preserve and research the natural course of natural processes and phenomena, genetic basis of flora and fauna, separate species and communities of plants and animals typical and unique ecological systems.
